Biography
Dr Melina Huerin was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and graduated as a doctor from the Buenos Aires University of Medicine. She did her residency training in cardiology at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. She became Head of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation at the Cardiovascular Institute of Buenos Aires, where she also developed the area of cardiovascular prevention for women. He was in charge of these areas from 1995 to 2008. She went as a visitor at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Montreal Heart Institute, Royal Infirmary University of Glasgow, Scottland, William Beamont Hospital, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore; Vanderbilt University, Nashville; Intervent US program, Savannah, Giorgia; and Owensboro Mercy Health System, Owensboro and at Women cardiovascular preventive area, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio. Since 2009 she has served as chief of cardiology at the Lezica Cardiovascular Institute in Buenos Aires. Dr. Huerin is a teacher in numerous medical education courses, a member of the editorial committee of the Argentine journal of heart failure, author of numerous papers in peer-review international journals, books chapters, and guidelines in the field of cardiovascular prevention. She is married with three children and continues to live in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she develops her practice assisting heart patients, educational activities and research.
